When the tests were over, Jonas Salk announced that the vaccine was safe and it could proceed with human trials.

A vaccine to be taken orally and was also developed and together, the two types of vaccines have eliminated Polio from many Countries in the world: from 350,000 cases in 1988, olny 223 ones were recordered in 2012!

In some African states such as Nigeria, an increase in cases of disease was found although in the African continent, the vaccine has done its job very well.
The problem is that some dissident do not believe in the safety of the vaccine, because according to their version, the sterility would be a collateral effect of the Polio vaccine.
